Go to Google right now. Go on, do it - open a new tab/window whatever and do it. Type in something like 'free gifts', 'free PS3', 'free iPod' or anything else you wish you could actually have for free. For the purpose of this article, I typed in 'free Wii' and got 101,000,000 results. Quite a lot of results wouldn't you say? Especially when you consider the old saying 'You don't get anything for free in life'.
What if some of these sites that came up in our search were legitimate? What if you actually could get these things for free? I'm here to tell you that you CAN. But the word 'free' can be misleading. In some cases, yes you can get these things for free - but generally it will cost you a little time and maybe a small amount of money. Most of these freebie sites operate like this:-
1. Register and Choose an Item - You will click the product you want, then you will be directed to a sign up page where you type your E-Mail address in and maybe a username/password.
2. Complete an Offer - This is what most of you will consider the catch, or the sting in the tail. The words 'complete an offer' and/or 'register credit/debit card' are sure to alienate most people. The fact is though, these people are losing out. Just because you have to complete an offer, doesn't mean it isn't legitimate. Some of the offers are often free, and most are just a small amount of money. When you complete an offer, the company you completed an offer with pays the freebie site you registered at. This is basically how the whole thing works. It's very simple, and everybody is a winner.
3. You Refer Others To Do The Same - This is how you get your freebie. Each item will have a referral value - for example to get a free 80GB PS3 you will need 10 referrals - this means you have to refer 10 people to sign up under you and complete an offer. You can ask friends/family to do it, or you can promote your link to the entire world if you like. Once you have reached the amount of referrals required, your gift will be sent to you.
This is all there is to it. Most people (myself included) instinctively think 'scam!' when they first hear about these sites. But the majority of them actually aren't - they are simply doing business - they get paid by the advertiser, the company gets new customers and you get free gifts! Everybody really is a winner.
